CHICAGO, Ill., January 20, 2009 – OnePoint Patient Care, an independent hospice pharmacy services provider, announced today that Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care has selected OnePoint’s new Illinois pharmacy as a preferred provider of hospice pharmacy services. Under the agreement, OnePoint will dispense and deliver prescription medications and custom compounds to Rainbow Hospice patients and provide clinical consulting and cost management programs to Rainbow Hospice care teams.
Park Ridge, Ill.,-based Rainbow Hospice is among the oldest and largest nonprofit hospices in Illinois, annually serving more than 2000 terminally ill patients and their families in Chicago and surrounding counties.

Partnering with a pharmacy as distinguished as OnePoint assures that we have the kind of pharmaceutical expertise that is a match for our fine clinical and supportive services. We are confident that our OnePoint colleagues will work as hard as we do to ensure that our patients are cared for in a dignified and expert way,” said Patricia Ahern, President and CEO of Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care. “Add to that OnePoint’s clinical consulting and cost management expertise that will allow us to provide this top-notch care while managing costs and complying with complex and ever-evolving regulations, and OnePoint gives us the complete package.”
OnePoint Patient Care is the nation’s leading local hospice pharmacy services provider, filling prescriptions, creating custom compounds and providing home deliveries for an average of 7,500 patients per day. The pharmacy’s local operations provide 24-hour accessibility, personal interaction, accurate prescriptions and prompt delivery, allowing hospices to get patients their medications quickly, simply and reliably. In addition, OnePoint provides clinical consulting and cost management services designed to help hospices provide superior, yet cost-effective palliative care for their patients.
“We are honored to serve as Rainbow Hospice’s pharmacy services partner and to help it further its mission of enabling people to live with dignity and hope while coping with loss and the end of life,” said Sherwin Sorkin, President of OnePoint’s Illinois division. “Our Illinois pharmacy gives Rainbow the assurance of having a local partner backed by the expertise of a national network of pharmacies, combining efficient, local dispensing and delivery service with the added benefits of our clinical consulting and cost management programs.
